To have time, to take time, this mainly seems not possible in every day hassles. It means to step out of trouble and business, means to gain time and attention for new things and ideas.
“Time is valuable if you do not utilize it”, writes Lin Youtang, a Chinese philosopher and writer of the late 19th century. “Leisure within time resembles empty and free space in a room.”
The seminars combine the training of Aikido (4 hours a day) with reflection and give the opportunity for philosophical conversations.
The breathing exercises, meditations and Jo / Bo-Ken training (stick and wooden sword) will take place at the beach, which is an impressive location for that. Other Aikido training takes place on mats at the gym.
No knowledge of philosophy is expected. The conversations — held in English — are meant to be an opportunity of mental exchange. The seminars begin with a brief introduction into philosophy and continue led by certain theses, short texts or questions from the participants.
The day ends with meditation and having tea.
Target of the seminars are to get a clearer view to one's own life-position, to get enriched by new perspectives, movement experiences and the quietness of the place.
The accomodation …
… is the “Akademie am Meer” at Klappholttal, — a group of houses spread over the impressive dunes in the national park of Sylt.
The “Akademie” has its own access path to the beach which can be visited at any time. The schedule leaves enough time for discovering the island.
